    ZugerKB Living Room natural landscape

    The natural landscape of Zug

The ”Nature” room is bursting with native plants, and offers you a rustic seating area under a cherry tree laden with ripe fruit. The tables are made from wood sourced from local forests owned by the Zug Corporation. The forestry operations of the Zug Corporation encompass around 1,000 hectares of natural forest divided between two forestry districts – ”Berg” (mountain) and ”See” (lake). Just as the Corporation makes its infrastructure freely available to local people, so too do we with our Zuger Living Room.

Our ”Nature” area also pays homage to the cherry. Did you know that the secret of Zug’s great diversity of cherry trees lies in painstaking cultivation? Local cherry producers plant strong standard trees and nurture them with an attentiveness bordering on obsession. And for good reason – it can be quite a while before a cherry tree will bear fruit.

    Zuger Living Room People

    People of Zug

What ultimately defines Zug? Its people. The neighbour who tends to your plants when you are on holiday, the office colleague who coaches a local football team, your best friend who looks after the elderly in her spare time: All of these people make Zug what it is. But a number of personalities whose fame extends beyond cantonal boundaries were born in Canton Zug. These are people who have achieved great things – be it in the social sphere or in the context of sport or art.

Can you think of someone in Zug who has special significance for you personally? If so, just write ”Favourite Zug person” on one of our pre-printed blue cards you will find in the Zuger Living Room – and then tell us all about them. Every month we will draw a random winner from the cards stuck on our postcard wall – and present the described individual with a small gift.

    Zuger Living Room delicacies

    Zug delicacies

Cherries are a treat for young and old: Our region is home to more than 300 varieties of cherry, which come in any number of forms and colours: red, black, yellow ... They can be found in numerous regional specialities, such as the Zuger Kirschtorte (a creamy kirsch-steeped gateau), Zuger Chriesibrägel (stewed cherries with croutons), a delicious cherry purée – and of course the renowned kirsch (cherry schnapps). But local delicacies are also sourced from Lake Zug itself. In the autumn, the lake char – salvelinus alpinus – takes pride of place on the kitchen table. This tasty fish is known locally as the ”Zuger Rötel”, so named as the male is endowed with a reddish belly to attract females. But before your mouth starts watering, we would recommend a leisurely stroll through Zug, taking in its many small shops. In our Zuger Living Room we introduce you to various traditional specialities in a playful way.

    Zuger Living Room associations

Zug's societies, associations and charitable institutions

What makes life even better? Well, when we share it with others! The people of Zug put in numerous hours of voluntary work, and throw themselves into the activities of numerous clubs and associations. By so doing, they ensure the canton has a varied range of social activities and help to preserve valuable regional traditions. As a bank, we support more than 700 associations and charitable organizations in the Zug region. Whether it’s an open-air event, the legendary Chriesisturm run or a junior football tournamen. As general sponsor of the local hockey team – EVZ – we follow every game with passion. But our activities also extend to the big stage, as we are principal sponsor of the ”Theater- und Musikgesellschaft Zug”.

In the ”Associations” area you’ll get an idea of our engagement on our specially dedicated tile wall – where you will perhaps find yourself attracted to one of the various local societies.
